Hi
I'm currently working remotely as a 3D artist for an online games company.
Started animating seriously when I enrolled on the Animation Mentor Course back in September 08.
I'm currently based in Seattle but will be moving back to the UK in 2010, I hoping that all the time an effort I'm dedicating to animation now will pay off and I can gain a dream job working for a next gen games studio as an animator in the north of England.
Please drop me a message if you working in the UK in the 3d/Animation industry. I'd love to build up some contacts before I move back.
cheers
Wayne

Hey Wayne,
I'm living in the UK at the moment, but I've finished up working here. I can recommend a few places that do games. I think they might focus mainly on cinematics, but Realtime UK are way up North.
Let me know if you'd like to be introduced to one of their heads of recruiting. Contact me using the 'PM' button under my profile and we'll talk.

Hello, I am Greg.
After 15 years in the advertising business and over five years learning the world of 3D as a passionate hobbyist my plan is to move into this field full time. I work in Maya, Zbrush, I have VUE but haven't played with it as much as I would like. I have spent a lot of time developing skills as a solid generalist. I can model, I can rig and I am now turning my attention to building my skills and reel as an animator.
My dream job? I think that could take a lot of forms. It would be great to work on a great film like LOTR or a great game or work for a A list studio like pixar but if i could build my practice as a freelance 3D artist for hire, working out of my studio or on site for short gigs that would be a dream come true as well. So that's me.
cheers,
g.

Welcome everyone!
Cassie: I've just created a new forum for animation critiques.
I can't guarantee that I will have time to personally critique it, but I will stop by when I can! Post you work up in there for everyone to comment on!
Where are you looking to work (what city/country)?
Greg: Sounds like you've got a lot of dedication and drive! Where can we see your current reel? If you still have contacts in the advertising field, chase them up for some work. It may not be glamorous, but its a start!
Mark: Congratulations on graduating from AM (soon). Good luck on your short film as well!
I know what you mean about working in a studio, there's definitely an energy and bond that forms between you and your co-workers.

Hi!
I´m Marcos Piolla, from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. I work as Senior Animator at the VFX department of TV Globo, which is the biggest broadcaster here.
I started animating in the university in 1987 and began working as a 2D Animator in 1995. In 2000 I´ve decided to learn 3D. Now I model, rig (though I do not consider myself even close to be a TD) and animate in Lightwave and Softimage.
I also teach Advanced Animation classes at a University.
I just began the pre-production of my first short film and hope to have the time and stamina to finish it. My dream job is to earn my living directing and producing my own projects. Until then, I am happy being paid to do what I like most.
Cheers!

Hey, guys. My name is Chelsey, and I'm currently a student at Savannah College of Art and Design, majoring in in animation, of course. I've been animating for about two years, and recently, my passion for it has completely skyrocketed. I've been looking for animation tips outside of school to help my animation get better, and so far, the Guardian Program as well as the other tutorials by DJ Nicke have been the most helpful.
My dream job is to work at Dreamworks one day doing character animation, concept development, or character design. I also want to work for a game company at least once. A lot of my friends in college are game designers, so I really want to extend my skills to be capable of assisting them.
I think my overall animation goal is for my animation projects to have an impact on people, whether its a learning experience or purely for casual enjoyment. I want people to get excited about my work when they hear my name attached to it, like how I get about Milt Kahl, Adam Phillips, or any of my other animation idols.
I'm really excited to meet everyone, and I hope you guys have a great day.
Thanks,
Chelsey
